paul & sue hazelden - home page paul & sue hazelden - home page - introduction welcome! welcome to our web site. it has been written partly for our friends and family, and partly for the wider community. we hope you find the pages on this site interesting and informative - do let us know what you think. about sue sue continues to work for one25. in her spare time, amongst other things, she is the treasurer of the stoke lodge ramblers, our local walking group. following her accident in november 2010 , sue continues her regular exercises to keep the arm moving. she is probably back to about 80% of her former mobility, and it is likely to stay that way now. it is better than the surgeon was expecting, although he didn't tell us what he was expecting at the time. we are pleased to say that she has regained about 80% of her former mobility in the arm, which is more than the surgeon had feared would be possible and after lots of physiotherapy she has been signed off. she continues to do arm exercises each day, and water based exercises several times a week, to maintain the mobility in her arm. we returned to see the surgeon on thursday 9 december, and discovered that it had not been possible to put all the shattered pieces of bone back together: the top part of her arm bone has been replaced by a titanium implant. sue is now semi-bionic. sue started physiotherapy on wednesday 22 december: initially, no exercise, just gentle movements of the arm, and very painful; now she has moved on to various exercises. we were well supplied with meals from a large number of friends, for which we are grateful. the tendons have successfully attached to the implant, the pain slowly continues to decrease, and the range of movement is slowly increasing. -- about paul at the end of august 2014, paul moved on from crisis centre ministries after 14 years and a lot of changes. paul is running the 'helping vulnerable people' training program, and there are a number of other projects in the pipeline. paul is delivering these services under the name of 'make a difference (bristol)' . he is also working to get bcan up and running again after a gap when many of the key players disappeared. paul is about to sleep out in the churchyard of pip 'n' jay church in bristol, along with folk from many other organisations in bristol who work to help homeless people. if you would like like to sponsor him, do get in touch. we heard from spurgeon's college on 8 december 2010 that paul's dissertation has been marked, and passed. paul is now a mth in applied theology. it has taken a long time to get here, and we are grateful to all those who helped us along the way. the graduation is on saturday 25 june, meeting at spurgeon's college. on the night of friday 26 february 2010, i slept out in the churchyard of pip 'n' jay church in bristol, along with folk from many other organisations in bristol who work to help homeless people. there were various reports on the event in the media. it was generally regarded as a success, despite the overnight rain. you can read my own short summary on the family news page. you can find out more about the event on the   sleepout page of the bcan web site. if you would like to join us in doing something practical to help some of the most needy and vulnerable people in bristol, please get in touch with me or with someone from one of the other organisations taking part. but, if you can't, please sponsor someone who is taking part. you can   sponsor me through justgiving, or get in touch and i will send you a form. thank you. -- what you will find on this site for our friends, both new and old, this web site will tell you something about us (in the ' personal ' section), our hobbies, interests, beliefs and activities; and also about the christian and community work we do (in the ' ministry ' section). you will also find a number of articles (in the ' writings ' section) which are offered as resources, mostly to the christian community, although there are some of a more general nature. please feel free to browse, and tell us what you think - especially if you disagree with or have questions about any of it! among the popular general articles are: engaging the voluntary sector revising the welfare system and among the popular christian articles are: the modified engel scale (helping people evangelise in a loving and appropriate way) what is the fate of the wicked?
